From 16th–22nd March 2026, I will be joining organisations across the UK and beyond in marking Neurodiversity Celebration Week, a global initiative that invites us to rethink the way we understand minds, learning, communication, and difference.

At Wolds Psychology, this week resonates deeply with my values. Being neurodivergent isn’t an illness to be treated or a problem to be fixed. It’s a natural and important part of human variation. Our brains are not meant to be identical; they are meant to be diverse.

Conditions such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, Tourette’s, and others are not deficits, they are differences in how the brain processes information.

These differences can bring challenges, yes, but they also bring strengths:

• Creativity

• Hyperfocus

• Pattern recognition

• Innovative problem‑solving

• Deep empathy

• Unique perspectives

When society is designed with only one type of mind in mind, people who think differently can feel out of place. But when we widen the frame, we see that neurodivergent people enrich our communities, workplaces, and relationships.

My approach:

In my work I meet many people who have spent years feeling “wrong,” “too much,” or “not enough.” Often, the issue isn’t their neurodivergence, it’s the environments and expectations around them.

I see my role as focusing on:

• Understanding each person’s unique profile

• Supporting self‑acceptance and confidence

• Helping families and schools create environments where individuals can thrive

• Reducing stigma and reframing difference as diversity

• Offering practical strategies that honour how someone naturally thinks and feels

Above all, I want people to feel seen, valued, and understood.

By raising awareness through weeks such as these, it provides a moment to pause and ask: How can we make our communities more welcoming for every kind of mind?

A Message from Me

As a psychologist, I feel privileged to work with neurodivergent individuals and their families. Every day, I see resilience, humour, insight, and brilliance. I also see the weight of misunderstanding and the relief that comes when someone finally understands.

During Neurodiversity Celebration Week, and every week, I want to reaffirm this:

You do not need to be “fixed.” You deserve to be understood.

You are not alone. You are not less. You are wonderfully, powerfully different.

If you’d like to learn more about neurodiversity, explore assessment options, or simply talk through your experiences,  please get in touch
